Pirkka-Marja Põldvere received ICAL 2018 Outstanding Alumnus award
On 24-28 March 2018, partner and senior associate Pirkka-Marja Põldvere attended the annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, acting as arbitrator at the 25th moot.
It has become a long tradition that during moot the alumni of the International Commercial Arbitration Law (ICAL) programme of Stockholm University gather at the alumni dinner and the award of Outstanding Alumnus of the year is announced. ICAL 2018 Outstanding Alumnus is Pirkka-Marja Põldvere, who received her master degree from Stockholm University in 2004.
Pirkka-Marja Põldvere is the first ICAL alumnus to be listed in the Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) Panel of Arbitrators. ICSID is an international arbitration institution established for legal dispute resolution and conciliation between international investors and countries. The Republic of Estonia designated Pirkka-Marja Põldvere to the panel in 2017.
The ICAL programme has established a global reputation and topped international rankings for specialized LLM programmes. More than 300 graduates from about 70 countries have enriched their careers and expanded their networks through participating in this academic programme. Since 2014 the ICAL Outstanding Alumnus award has been granted to one member of the ICAL alumni community to recognize her or his achievements in the field of law.
