Pirkka-Marja Põldvere lecturing to Estonian Bar Association and University of Tartu
On 5 April 2018, partner and senior associate Pirkka-Marja Põldvere gave lecture to the members of the Estonian Bar Association on the topic of arbitration, independence and impartiality of arbitrators and the Estonian Supreme Court practice. In her lecture Pirkka-Marja Põldvere analysed the benefits of arbitration in comparison to national court proceedings. Special attention was paid to the independence and impartiality of arbitrators. It is important to recognise that the arbitrators appointed by one side of a dispute are not and cannot be the so-called representatives of this party in the arbitration panel but must resolve the dispute impartially. Additionally the lecturer analysed recent decisions of the Supreme Court related to arbitration and drew attention to other topical issues in arbitration proceedings.
On 6 April 2018, Pirkka-Marja Põldvere was lecturing at the University of Tartu and gave an overview of the Estonian legislation on arbitration and related court practice to law students.
