Pirkka-Marja Põldvere commenting Estonian law on arbitration
Last week at the 35th Estonian Days of Legal Scientists, national judge Villu Kõve presented three volumes of comments on the Code of Civil Procedure. Pirkka-Marja Põldvere, partner of LEADELL Pilv Law Office (together with Ilona Nurmela) has written comments to the provisions on conciliation procedure and to almost half of the articles regulating arbitration proceedings. These are the first comments to be published in Estonian concerning arbitration law.
Quoting the editors V. Kõve, I. Järvekülg, J. Ots and M. Torga, “Now for the first time, the legislation valid in the territory of Estonia and regulating the Code of Civil Procedure has been commented. It has happened neither with regard to the legislation that was valid prior to 1940 nor to the legislation of the Soviet period. Comprehensive national study books on civil court proceedings are also lacking. Thus, we are witnessing a unique project aiming to develop the Estonian legal sciences on civil procedure and shaping a common theory.“
