Former municipality governor found not guilty in corruption accusations

Based on the 08.10.2018 ruling of the Estonian Supreme Court, the highest court decided not to take into proceeding a cassation in criminal case No. 1-17-2185 by the South District Prosecutor’s Office. Thus a judgment of the Tartu District Court dated 21.05.2018 entered into force founding a long-term governor of Tartu municipality and member of municipality council Aivar Soop not guilty in accusations of corruption. The state official was accused of violating procedural restrictions and of embezzlement.
