Medical law seminar of the LEADELL Pilv Law Office
On 14 June 2017 the medical law seminar of the LEADELL Pilv Law Office took place at the Ida-Tallinna Keskhaigla. The seminar was organised for the members of the Estonian Union of Doctors who were provided legal advice on situations and consequences related to medical liability which should be considered by doctors in their daily work.
Presentations were made by attorneys-at-law and partners of the LEADELL Pilv Law Office. Attorney-at law Tambet Laasik gave a lecture on the „Civil liability of doctors“ focusing on the legal relations between doctors and patients, introducing the main principles of doctor’s liability and advising on how to avoid conflicts and prevent court disputes. Attorney-at-law and partner Britta Oltjer talked about the „Practical examples of civil liability cases“ introducing various court resolutions related to the provision of health care services. Attorney-at-law and partner Urmas Kõrgesaar took a closer look at the „Criminal liability of doctors“ explaining the essence and bases of doctors’ criminal liability and providing an overview of related case law. Additionally the topic of processing and publishing personal data upon providing medical care was presented by attorney-at-law Anneli Aab who gave a lecture on the „Problems related to protection of personal data“.
