Attorney-at-law Pirkka-Marja Põldvere attending International Commercial Arbitration Moot as arbitrator
On 7-13 April 2017 the 24th Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is taking place in Vienna, Austria. Attorney-at-law Pirkka-Marja Põldvere is attending the Moot as arbitrator already for the 7th time.
The goal of the Vis Arbitration Moot is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international business disputes and to train in methods of alternative dispute resolution. Over the years this annual event has developed into a gathering of more than 2,000 law students and over 900 lawyers, law professors and other arbitration practitioners from the entire world.
In addition to the moot sessions where Pirkka-Marja is participating as arbitrator, during the week many seminars and workshops on arbitration are held. For instance, yesterday Cherie Blair, QC, gave a fascinating lecture on „Wikileaks & Beyond: Admissibility of Improperly Obtained Evidence in International Commercial Arbitration“ covering the issue of allowing in arbitration proceeding the use of evidence obtained by hacking.
