Our partner Pirkka-Marja P\u00f5ldvere<\/a> had several business trips in April. First of all, as a member of the ICC Commision on Arbitration & ADR (being the head of the 6-member Estonian delegation), she participated in the commissions\u2019s yearly Paris meeting, where the future of ICC arbitration was discussed by more than 600 delegates from all over the world. She then took part in various mini-seminars in the framework of the Paris Arbitration Week, starting with sports arbitration (“Anti-Doping & Match Fixing Rules and Practice in Tennis and Beyond – Clarification & Prevention”) and continuing with issues re controlling the costs of arbitration, the use of AI in construction disputes and M&A and shareholder disputes – discussing the latest developments and trends in her core areas of work: corporate disputes, construction disputes, sports arbitration, efficient dispute resolution, etc.<\/p>\n

Pirkka<\/a> then travelled to Vienna to the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, where she has been participating as an arbitrator for many years. This is a competition for law students, where more than 400 universities compete in arbitration and international trade cases as representatives of fictitious companies and the teams are arbitrated by renowned arbitration specialists from around the world. This year’s competition was held under the rules of the Finland Arbitration Institute (FAI). In connection with the competition, a variety of events and meetings, discussions and debates, introductions and meetings with good colleagues were held in Vienna.
